(More customer reviews)I have the Cub Cadet version of this product. It's 100% the same (even the same model number) except that the plastic is yellow rather than red. Picked it up on an auction site for a very low price.
Overall, this is a generally handy product. It's not the best trimmer head I've ever used, nor is it the best blower. But it makes up for that by convenience. It's especially handy when trimming the edge at the sidewalk, which usually results in a lot of grass being scattered on the sidewalk. Rather than have to get a broom or a blower, just move the lever on the unit and it blows everything clear.
The blower performance is adequate for clearing a hard surface, such as a driveway or patio. It has about the same power (perhaps a wee bit more) than a battery powered blower. Good for the small stuff, but it won't hold a candle to a dedicated blower.
The trimmer has a fixed head, and the line is very easy to load. I'm not thrilled that it's a curve shaft since it's harder for me to use as comfortably as a straight shaft. Plus the added weight at the head due to the blower makes it harder to maneuver. But again, it's the cost of convenience.
The lever that switches from blower to trimmer has a lock that must be held down. You have to flip it using your hand rather being able to tap it with your foot. Probably did it that way for safety, but it would be nice to be able to just tap it with my foot to switch from blower to trimmer.
It's a good choice if you want one tool to both trim and blow without having to switch out an attachment. Check out the Cub Cadet version - seems to be priced lower than Troy Bilt. If you can get it at half the cost of the Troybilt, it's a decent tool to have.
